In 1931 VARIG expanded its lines
to Rio Grande do Sul interior, when acquired two monoplanes Junkes
A-50. The first one, P-BAAE, and the second P-BAAI, later PP-VAI.
With those aircraft VARIG performed several advertising flights. As
was its capacity to just one passenger, its main use was in cargo
flights for mail and small packages.
Later the PP-VAI, which was called “Bagé” and “Minuano”, served as
school-planes until 1944, when they were retired from service.
